I told her on the phone how disapointed I am in my laziness over the last couple of years. The way I stopped saying yes to those potential moments that tugged at my sleeve to climb that hill, hike that path, drive, wade in, stop, breathe, look... the way I'm realizing I may have taken learning how to say no quite a bit beyond the healthy boundary it was meant to establish.
My heart soared when she, with the credibility of knowing me all my life - knowing me inside and out, assured me there is not a lazy bone in my body. And she changed the word lazy to the more appropriate word, inactive.
Inactive. It sounds much less permanent and difficult to reverse than lazy, doesn't it?
It was easier to be active when I was fresh-new-mom-finally and I kept the now KeepingZeek.com in it's first phases known as BabyZeek.com. That blog space and the special moms who read and shared in it with me motivated and inspired me to go, go, go and do, do, do! It was somewhat of an accountability space.
But it turned into blogging for an audience, and I went from life-loving-idea-sharer to lady on stage with a hot spotlight burning sweat beads off forehead. And I had to close the curtain. I had to take a bow and learn how to live my life out from behind the lens of my camera and the cyber ink of my laptop.
And now here I am, almost three years later with THREE blogs!
And it's kind of embarrassing. Not that I have them all -they've each been planted, carried and birthed rightfully - but the fact that at any minute of any day God could whisper one soft "stop" where they are concerned and all three would be gone in seconds.
But so is my entire life as past blogs, facebook, a Chihuahua named Chico, an unowned D700, and online canasta can all attest to on my behalf. I will do as He says, and if He says no, I listen.
Ann wrote it months ago, and I told it too to my Mom, wrote it on our kitchen chalkboard and in journals, because I sensed it's importance was on the horizon...
"We are always being wooed and each grace-filled moment waits patient for our yes to His love. We become the bride of God whenever we say yes to this moment."
Yes! That's it. It's time to start yes-ing. Yes, to the few minutes of meditation carved out in the day, yes to the moment of gratefulness for tiniest flicker of HIs majestic work in a grain of sand, yes to that project, or crazy crafting idea that just beaconed, yes to stop the car, get out and-climb, pick, photograph...
Yes! YES! YES!
I'm done saying no, who cares? why? what will come of it?
I'm filling this place with all the moments I say yes to, and in one year when I look back through this place I will see how wonderful and memorable YES was!
Many yeses to come.
