A YES Summer!

Last summer, my old habit of choosing no really held us back.
Sadly, it wasn't until the end of August that we finally squeaked in a whole world of fun and adventure for our memory box.

We discovered our favorite beach within driving distance,

spent an awesomely full day at a county fair,

and enjoyed our first ever evening snuggled in at a nearby outdoor theater.

I was so glad to have snuck this all in during the last two weeks of August before we began kindergarten.
I filed these things away with a promise to add to the list and get started earlier this summer!!!

Right now, our favorite summer weekly outing has become the farmers market.

Sometimes we meet a friend.

Sometimes we just go alone, together.

We head into town around 3p. We find our parking spot and set out on foot to explore the stands.

We are getting to know the vendors and artists, and we are enjoying some of our weekly traditions of

dancing with live bands,

face painting,

hotdogs,

cupcakes on a stick,

and visiting Auntie B at her Larky Park tent!

It's such a fun and relaxing afternoon to walk hand in hand, spoiling my little fellow, visiting with all the familiar faces, and being out and about in town, building memories for what WILL be a fun filled summer of 2011.

What's on your "must do" summer fun agenda?

  1. Our biggest tradition is to go to MOPS in the park every Tuesday throughout the summer and last year we added VBS to it as well for a whole week. Then there is concerts in parks and figuring that laundry doesn't run anywhere and just going to the park with friends whenever they ask. Yes, I say yes way to much in the summer, but I will miss it now that I go to Norway.
This summer will be all about hiking and fishing. Reading lots of books and playing with the kids. A very quiet summer.
I love farmers markets. Looks like yours is a really nice one. Have a great summer and look out for free concerts at parks in your area. Those are really great.

  6. I want to take my daughter to the local beach. We live in a very water-accessible area, and the ocean is actually less than an hour from us. We also have some beaches on the bay that are really close, and I would love to get to one in particular several times this year. I also want to visit my friend at her apartment where they have a great pool, as well as go to the water park and amusement park. Hopefully we can cram it all in!

  7. I must go to the beach with you this summer now that Elijah is old enough not to freak me out with his dangerous personality every ten minutes!!! Can't WAIT! :)

    Love, Pam
